  1. Install VLC from command line

  3. To install the latest VLC media player you might want to consider the VLC installation from a 3rd-party PPA repository. To do so first step is to include VLC PPA repository:
    $ sudo add-apt-repository ppa:videolan/master-daily
    
    Next, install the actual VLC player:
    $ sudo apt install vlc

    Use the top left Activities menu to open the Software application.
    Search for vlc

    Begin the VLC installation

    Enter your password
    Enter your password. Your user must belong to the sudo group in order to proceed with the installation.
    VLC installation is completed
    Once the VLC installation is completed simply click on Launch button or use Activities menu to start the VLC application.
