Privileged access to your Linux system as root or via the sudo command.

First step is to ensure that gnome-online-accounts is installed on our system. Install the following Linux command from your terminal window:
$ sudo apt install gnome-online-accounts

Open the settings window:
$ gnome-control-center online-accounts
Navigate to Online Accounts tab and select Google
Enter your Google Account username
Enter your Google Account password
You might need to perform an authentication before you proceed further
Once you are authenticated allow Gnome to access Google services
Enter you Ubuntu user password
If all went well you should now be ready to use your Google account with the Gnome Desktop
Click on your Google account and confirm that Files a.k.a Google Drive is enabled.
All should be ready. To access your Google Drive simply open the default file browser and navigate to the attached Google Drive directory.
