Install using Snap
- From the terminal execute the following command:
$ sudo snap install skype --classic skype 8.55.0.135 from Skype✓ installed
- Use the Activities menu to search for Skype application and click on the relevant icon to start Skype.
Alternatively, start the Skype application from the command line:
$ skype
Skype installation from Official package
- First step is to download the official Skype package. Open up the terminal and run:
$ wget -O ~/skype.deb https://repo.skype.com/latest/skypeforlinux-64.deb
- Install the Skype package downloaded in the previous step by using the
dpkg
command:$ dpkg -i ~/skype.deb
- To start the Skype application execute the following command:
$ skypeforlinux
