The objective is to install and integrate Dropbox with Ubuntu 18.04 Bionic Beaver Desktop

  • Software: – Dropbox v41.4.80

  • # – requires given linux commands to be executed with root privileges either directly as a root user or by use of sudo command
  • $ – requires given linux commands to be executed as a regular non-privileged user

Instructions

Install Dropbox

The following linux command will install Dropbox’s transition package:

$ sudo apt install nautilus-dropbox


Start Dropbox

After successful installation of the Dropbox transition package launch Dropbox from activities menu:

launch dropbox - ubuntu 18.04 bionic beaver

This will trigger the download of the main Dropbox’s binaries:

download dropbox - ubuntu 18.04 bionic beaver

When prompted enter your Dropbox credentials:

sign-in dropbox - ubuntu 18.04 bionic beaver

After login your Dropbox is ready synced:

sync dropbox - ubuntu 18.04 bionic beaver
