Install Adobe Acrobat Reader DC (WINE) on Ubuntu 20.04 step by step instructions

  1. Begin the Adobe Acrobat Reader DC installation by opening the terminal and executing the following snap command:
    $ sudo snap install acrordrdc
    
  2. Once the snap installation is complete as a regular user execute the acrordrdc command from a terminal:
    $ acrordrdc
    
    Be patient, as you will not see anything happening for some time. The reason is that the Wine is getting configured in the background.

  3. Wine will continue to configure itself.
    Wine will continue to configure itself. Seat back and relax.


  4. Unintended upgrade might break your Adobe Acrobat Reader DC installation
    The Wine is configured only for a certain version of Adobe Acrobat Reader DC. Unintended upgrade might break your Adobe Acrobat Reader DC installation. For now simply click on the Install button.


  5. The actual Adobe Acrobat Reader DC MS

  6. Always open with Protected Mode disabled
    This is an incompatibility issue. Select Always open with Protected Mode disabled.

    $ sudo snap disconnect acrordrdc:network
