New 2-GHz ARM Chip Heads for Linux Devices

Embedded core designer ARM Ltd. on Wednesday announced a 2-GHz version of its Cortex-A9 microprocessor that may eventually appear in smartphones and smartbooks. ARM will deliver the core IP itself during the fourth quarter, so any products based on the technology will likely have to wait until the new year.
