1. Welcome

With a rapid technology progress we are more and more surrounded by an electronic equipment such as computers, radios, satellite receivers, music players, TV's and etc. These devices which had become part of our life are smarter with every new version and their goal is to make our life easier and more convenient.

The majority of these devices which we use on a daily basis make some use of a proprietary software. Apart of their obvious functions, their true nature is unknown to us, since the source code is deliberately hidden from the end user.

How hard it is for a TV manufacturer to write a piece of software which makes a home call with a name of every TV program you have watched, along with a video streaming directly from your living room using a build-in camera? What kind of information is sent and where when you make a call to a friend from your mobile phone?

This just scratches a surface of how proprietary software invades and will continue to invade our privacy if we allow it. The more to the future we go the more devices with some sort of software inside will be around us. This fact therefore must consequently increase chances of some entity to invade our privacy and freedom.

From this reason a Free Software surely must play an important role in any healthy society today and in the future. Using Linux operating system and it's GNU/Linux spin-offs gives anyone a feel and taste of a freedom and freedom as we know it, is a primary and unreplaceable ingredient to a healthy and happy life of any of us.

2. Objective

I started linuxconfig.org project with a single goal and that is to rid the world of the myth that Linux is an operating system which is hard to manage and learn. Achieving this I hope that I will also lead people to a free software and encourage its use whenever possible.

3. Contact

Please do not hesitate to contact me if you find any problems when reading articles on linuxconfig.org as I'll be more than happy to disccus it and improve their content.  I hope that you find my articles useful. If you like this project please consider to link to it from your website / blog to help me with my goal. Any feedback will be appreciated as it keeps me motivated.

4. Disclaimer

All articles could be improved in some way ( contextually or grammatically ) so before your start toss around negative feedbacks know that I'm doing what I can. As everyone else I also have time limitations and what is more I'm far from being perfect !

5. About me

In last 10 years I have worked for various companies as a Linux system administrator. Linux system become my passion and obsession.  I love to explore what a Linux operating system has to offer.

Currently I'm full time employed by my two kids Carmen & Damian. I'm also casually employed as a tutor by University of Technology, Sydney.

Thank you

"Terrorism" is what we call the violence of the weak, and we condemn it; "war" is what we call the violence of the strong, and we glorify it.
